Celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Day with Gospel

The Toscana Gospel Festival comes to the 15th edition this year, a must for people that loves this kind of music and wants to make holidays in Siena and province. This festival is very important in Italy and offers concerts in 17 Tuscan cities nearby unusual location: not only theatres and churches, but also outlet stores and malls.
The shows began the 8th of December but we suggest two concerts in particular: on Christmas, saturday 25th of December, the Harlem Messangers of New York will play in Montepulciano, at Sala Polivalente ex Macelli, and on saturday 1st of January in Siena the ensemble Spirit of Praise will sing at Teatro dei Rozzi.
Now it’s time for a celebration, so the festival’s organizers prepared a cd/dvd for the 15th birthday of the event, with the best of the concerts, that will be on sale during the shows. The gospel was born in the USA in the Thirties, and is a religious music that was spread around the world because is universal, tells the story of afro-american people and express emotions that everyone feels.
The festival wants to offer a sample of an art that is very spiritual and emotional, thanks to the intense voices and the religious subjects. About musicians, the Harlem Messangers of New York, quintet founded in 2001, choice the gospel as a mission: spread joy and hope singing, with a repertoire of traditional and Christmas songs.
Spirit of Praise are a part of New York State Choir, a band of 30 elements that played with great artists and that on stage sing the classics of gospel and modern pop songs both. They will open 2011 in Siena, nearby Teatro dei Rozzi, at 5:00 pm of the 1st of January, to celebrate the new year with cheerfulness.
