Creative menus in Siena

Try to imagine a challenge between chefs from two different cities, each one with his traditions, his talent and his favorite ingredients: this challenge rewards gourmet and delicacy, a gift for who wants a very special dinner.
In Siena this is possible thanks to Girogustando, event which has been taking place since 2002, a series of meetings in Siena and province restaurants with exclusive menus prepared by two chefs. These are dinners which feature menus made by two people, one from Tuscany and the another from an Italian destination.
The next event, which we suggest for an high quality gastronomical experience, there will be at the restaurant “Fori porta” on wednesday 13th March, a meeting between Genoese cuisine and Tuscan recipes. The guests will be Stefania Cortigiano and Maurizio Pinto of “Voltalacarta”, that will dedicate the event to Fabrizio De Andrè, a symbol of Genoa and one of the greatests artists of Italian songwriting tradition.
During the dinner there will be a live set, and the introduction of the book Donne pensate come amore by Marianna Marcucci, presented by prof. Stefano Moscadelli, coordinator of Centro Studi Fabrizio De André in Siena. This center, hosted by University, is a great archive of documentation about De Andrè and is the most important link between the Tuscan town and the regional capital of Liguria.
About the menu, the chefs Pinto and Borsi will cook the “Ravioli con ripieno ai carciofi di Albenga e calamaretti saltati” (a kind of pasta with artichokes and squids),“Malfatti di Cavolo Nero gratinati al forno su cialda di Pecorino Canestrato” (black cabbage gratinè with cheese), “Cuore di baccalà Lomo Especial con crema e paglia croccante di porri” (codfish with leeks) and other amazing dishes. You can get along the dishes with prestigious wines as the Vernaccia, Chianti and Moscadello di Montalcino.
