Enogastronomic weekend in Siena and province: San Martino Events

If you are looking for something special to do in the next weekend, we suggest some appetizing events that mix culture and traditional flavors, a formula that in Siena is very effective.
On 11th of November is S.Martino and there will be various events in different towns in the province of Siena: the first is the Market Exhibition of White Truffle, is a part of the Festival Crete d’autunno, that involves five towns and in particular San Giovanni d’Asso.
Is here that is celebrated the typical white truffle, a delicious product of this area of Tuscany and of Piedmont. A place to see is the Museum of Truffle, in San Giovanni d’Asso, the first Italian museum dedicated to this delicacy for gourmet. Inside the Castle of XIV century of San Giovanni d’Asso, there are 250 m² for the museum, a visit that involves all the senses and explores the properties, the history and the legends about the most precious tuber in the world.
On 13th and 14th of November you will can go to the Market Exhibition, learn to recognize truffles with a course (it’s free but you have to booking) and to join a white truffle tasting with muscat wine.
San Martino, in Italy, is also a symbol for good traditional wine and what is the best way to spend a day, Sunday 14th November, if you like wine tasting?
The answer is San Martino in Cantina, a National event that you can join in Siena, thanks to the association Movimento Turismo del Vino and the support of Enoteca Italiana. During this event, it’s possible to doing a tour in a wine cellar near Siena with the MoVINguide, people that are expert of new wine and typical delicacies of Tuscany, in other words a wine tasting that is also a lesson of refinement and tastefulness.
Another seasonal food, that reminds to the cold seasons but also to the quality of Italian products, are the chestnuts, and just in Siena there is an event that you cannot miss. Is the XVIII edition of Castagna in Carrozza, organized by the Contrada della Selva, from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th of November, at Vicolo delle Carrozze. Here you will find the typical specialties, from roast chestnuts to chestnut cakes, or have a break in the tavern or in the chocolate boutique, in a place where time isn’t passed.
