June is the best period for festivals in Siena and province, because you can also explore this charming side of Tuscany and take advantage of events promoting the natural landscape. We recommend you two festivals for a relaxing break among the sweet beloved hills from artists and poets: Narrazioni Libera Tutti, came at the 8th edition, is a series of meeting in Poggibonsi from 14th to 15th June, where the topic will be the charm of stories and the importance of human rights.
Poggibonsi becomes for two days the place where shows, concerts, readings and exhibitions will be the main attraction for tourists: the festival will begin on Friday 14th at 11:30 am with the vernissage of Zebeleen by Emanuele Cremaschi (from “Luz Photo”) and Diritto cittadinanza donne by Linda Dorigo, photographers that worked also abroad and that will introduce the topics of Narrazioni.
At 9:00 pm there will be the show by Cabeki & Gianmarco Busetto, a concert that mixes poetry, music and performance. The last event of the day will be the meeting with the author Francesco Targhetta, who wrote the book Perciò veniamo bene nelle fotografie, published by ISBN.
On Saturday at 5:00 pm there will be a round table about religious freedom, the screening of the documentary “Al Qaeda! Al Qaeda!”, inspired by the book Primo non diffamare di Luca Bauccio; for the section “Re-write the past” it will be presented Decameron 2013, a re-writing of Boccaccio novels, edited by Marco Vichi who included 40 Tuscan authors.
At last, at 10.15 pm the theatrical-music show by Regina Mab, FIOI. The second festival that you cannot miss is a free event in Monteriggioni, a very peculiar festival, due to its concept: promote the slow tourism, the long walks and taste all the gifts of nature. The Viandanza Festival, from 31st to 2nd June, is a different way to spend an holiday discovering a relaxed lifestyle. Thanks to the guests, for example the globetrotter writer Roberta Ferraris, the Têtes de Bois band which will play on stage with the live painting by Sergio Staino, the authors Wu Ming 2, Gianni Biondillo, Filippo Tuena, Davide Sapienza, which will tell their travels, and the show by Moni Ovadia dedicated to the nomadic people, compelled to travel for centuries.
In other words, an Eco-sustainable festival, a nice event to join that you can match with the gastronomical specialties, the DOC wines and the Spring-like landscapes that preserved the charm of the countryside. This is the official website: www.viandanzafestival.it
