The traditional meeting of Urban Trekking National Day comes back on Saturday 27th October, it’s a new way to be tourists, that Siena tested for first in Italy, followed by 33 cities.
The Urban Trekking is a guided tour across the most mysterious and odd venues of the city, itineraries that mix sport, art and nature, because the tours are exclusively by walk, in the center but also in the peripheral areas of the towns. Is a soft trekking, so we suggest to wear cosy clothes to be at ease, and has the advantage to respect the environment and to avoid the urban traffic, in other words is the praise of slow tourism that is opposed to the frantic pace of everyday life.
We give you some previews about the Senese itinerary, reminding you to the official website for others information: the starting point is Piazza del Campo, at 5:00 pm and every 15 minutes until 6:30 pm, so you can choose when you want begin.
The route lasts two hours and a half and is dedicated to uncommon people from different ages, among which we mention Luigi Bonelli, which is dedicated a small square, theater author and journalist active from the ’20s to 1954: the baritone Ettore Bastianini, related to via Stalloreggi and celebrated for his performances of Verdi opera; the Beato Ambrogio Sansedoni, depicted in a painting hosted by the Museo della Venerabile Compagnia di Santa Maria in Portico at Fontegiusta, besides he is portrayed on the facade of Duomo; the daughter of Manzoni, Matilde, that lived some years at the villa of Lizza together with his sister Vittoria.
Many special stories that deserve to be remembered, furthermore the itinerary will finish with a drink at Enoteca Italiana, where you can taste the DOC Tuscan wines.
