On 30th and 31st January 2016 there will be the first edition of an important event that promises to become a fixture for gourmets: Wine & Siena, a delicious chance to know the excellence of Tuscany and beyond.
We take this opportunity, after reporting the best wines in Siena region, to invite those who come here at the end of January to join Wine & Siena, because there will be tastings, cooking shows and meetings with wine owners.
This event was realized to promote the best wines selected among those who won the awards of the prestigious Merano WineAward, with a focus on Tuscany (100 wineries and 45 food producers) and 40 wineries from all around Italy.
We recommend you the 5 DOCG wines in Siena area: Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Chianti Classico and Vernaccia di San Gimignano, products that we suggest to all travelers who choose the town of the Palio for their holidays.
According to Helmuth Köcher, promoter of the initiative along with the Andrea Vanni, Siena “can certainly be called the capital of Italian wine and Tuscany is the region more suited to excellent wine production in Europe”.
About masterclasses, we recommend the two meetings with the sommelier Luca Gardini at Rocca Salimbeni, on Sunday 31st January, dedicated to Chianti Classico and Brunello; are also scheduled wine and Chianina meat tastings, on Saturday, and a guided tasting about how to pairing wine and cheese, on Sunday, both at Piazza del Campo.
The showcookings, only on Saturday, are challenges between chefs and food bloggers very exciting for those who want to see up close how to cook the most delicious dishes. The showcookings will be at 1:30 pm, 4:45 pm and 7:15 pm.
