The words that made Italians, in Poggibonsi

This weekend in Poggibonsi, in province of Siena, there will be the fourth edition of a festival dedicated to Italian language: Le Parole, I Giorni is an enjoyable initiative that through workshops, games, shows and lectures remind us to the importance of language and how is it changed during the centuries.
The events will take place at Politeama Theatre in Poggibonsi on Friday 8th April and Saturday 9th April. Among these we suggest several events, remarking that also this festival celebrates the 150th anniversary of Italian Unification.
On Friday at 6:00 pm the conference “Ma cosa vuoi che sia una canzone” will analyze the lyrics of the most popular 1000 Italian songs of the last 50 years, a musical and poetic journey that will discover the true meaning of those words, sang by millions of people.
On Saturday, at 1:30 pm, there will be a really cool event, that combines culture and gastronomy: at the Osteria del Cassero, in fact, inside the Medicea Fortress of Poggio Imperiale, you can have a lunch with an historical menu of the Risorgimento, based on recipes by Pellegrino Artusi. Author of “La scienza in cucina e l’arte di mangiar bene”, Artusi was a writer and a gourmet, he delighted himself creating new recipes.
During this event there will be also a reading about this book and the novel of Marco Malvaldi “Odore di chiuso”, to match dishes with the good taste of read books. The reservation is required, the lunch costs 30 €, and for all the information you can call the 0577 937134.
On Saturday evening, at 9:30 pm, you can see a monologue by Ascanio Celestini about racism. The title is “La fila indiana – Il razzismo è una brutta storia”, Celestini is one of the most talented storytellers in Italy, he is writer, director and actor at the same time, and each show has a new element, inspired by the current events.
